OP where do you live? That should answer this question for you. You have a potentially complicated birth. Even if you are scheduled for an early delivery there is nothing to prevent you from going into early labor. If I had a possibly dangerous birth I would want to chose the hospital closest to my work or home depending on where I was most often. You are NOT the person that wants to get stuck in rush hour traffic for an hour. Go to google maps and compare distance and pick the one closest to you. Although since the GT NICU and MFM staff saved the life of me and my baby (while generally being slow to respond to phone calls and making me wait for appointments) I vote for them if they fit the distance bill.
Op here. I live in Bethesda, so all 3 places are within 30 min with Sibley's being the closest. With GT I'm worried about not having a specific Ob I can go to and getting stuck with someone unknown for my delivery. When you delivered there, was it pre scheduled with someone you knew already? Also, I mentioned that I used to work there, right? I am comfortable with going there because of I know the place well, just didn't have any experience with its maternity ward.
I am the PP and also the PP who had pre-eclampsia that turned into HELLP while I was on the pitocin and after one contraction was rushed into the OR. I did not know my doctors because I had been with the MFMs. My MFM didn't deliver babies so she didn't do my c section but she was there with me the WHOLE time (Drassinower, really great). My experience with them both times (I did the first half of my second pregnancy there before moving out of state) is that you know ALL the MFMs pretty quickly and one of them really becomes your doctor, but the OBs it could be anyone. That said my primary OB was Dr. Benson and I saw him all the time, he admitted me the day I my BP was high and did almost all my regular OB appointments. Dr Kelly did my c section I believe. She was great but I barely remember her honestly. I was on the mag and out of it. This is really true at every hospital though. It is who is on call.
