I don't understand the people that think it's none of anyone's business. There are thousands of accidental gun deaths per year because parents don't keep their guns locked up. It's a legit concern and completely valid question to ask if you are sending your child over to a friend's house, especially if you don't know the parents that well.
We keep our weapons locked up. There will be no accidental deaths. If, God forbid, one of our guns ever causes a death, it will be intentional, that I can assure you. Therefore, it's none of your business what we have LOCKED UP.
Go away, PP, no one likes you. You are a liar.
Here's an anecdote. My father has guns. He lives alone. As soon as my kids were old enough to walk around and get into things, I asked him if he had locked his guns away. Guess what? He hadn't. It just hadn't crossed his mind. So because I asked, he now has them locked away. I'm guessing that most parents with young kids are probably more cautious than my dad. But at least some certainly aren't (as evidenced by accidental shootings by kids every year). Believe it or not, I know people with a young kid (not local) who have literally said to me that they keep their gun in their nightstand but their kid knows not to go in their bedroom. And even if I can ask the question and it reminds them that they probably need to lock the gun away, then it's worth it.
