Some people seem to have a vendetta against certain colleges. Look at the Brown bashing, Penn bashing, Chicago bashing, Northwestern bashing we've had in recent weeks, or even LAC bashing. I guess it's Duke's turn.

Duke is a fine school. Just like all the other elite colleges. If someone wants to know what's so great about Duke, well, as you know Duke has a lovely campus, excellent academics and departments and resources and a high performing student body. That's all that really matters. It's not different from other comparable elite colleges.  I don't think, nor do most people, higher or lesser of a Duke experience or degree and put it on par with all the other elite universities outside HYPS (who are in a different bracket, I don't think any disputes this). Penn versus Duke? Go to the one you like the most. There is no advantage to going to one over the other beyond subjective opinions or desires for weather or campus settings. Same with Duke versus Dartmouth or Brown or Chicago or Columbia. And same for those schools against each other.
