Probably because many people think of Asians as white.  Duke is 29% Asian according to their latest demographic breakdown on their school website.  I’m not saying that’s my viewpoint, it’s just a common misconception that minorities mean a skin color other than white looking.  So of the 49% minority, minus 29% of total population being Asian, that’s 20% for the aggregate of all the other minorities. So the average person looks at the student section of Duke and think it’s 80% white.  [/quote]
