Most of the Stuart community was not in favor of a name change in the first place, but this was INGNORED by the school board.

The votes for someone affiliated with the fight to end segregation significantly outweighed those for keeping the symbol of those who fought to keep desegregation and supported massive resistance.  The community has spoken.  Based on the votes, more of the community will be upset by keeping the name, if that's your benchmark for how the school board should proceed.  Only those within the pyramid could vote, so to go against the majority of those within the community who voted would be a travesty.
