Is your Asian kid going to suit up and take their place?  If not this is just stupid.

It is not exactly out of the mainstream to want an academic environment where everyone is not exactly the same.  That has some diversity.  Almost every selective public HS and college does it.

And the assumption that high SES Asian kids ares so much smarter or more capable or success than high SES white kids, based on the results of a single test they spend years cramming for is offensive and, yes, racist.  The success on that one test does not translate to larger scale academic success, which cannot be prepped for.   The white kids at TJ are doing fine.  The white kids who just missed the cut would too.  TJ was a great school ten years ago when the numbers were much more balanced.    And, once they get there, they would be more likely to take advantage of the education, rather than cheating their way through. Unprepared overprepped kids have lead to a cheating crisis, a toxic atmosphere and chaos in the math department with kids and parents overaccelerating and emanding to skip classes.  I think people resent Asians a lot less than they resent hypercompetitive Asians who cheat and sabatoge their peers projects and geberally make TJ a miserable place. [/quote]
