Talk about missing the point. The ceremony is for the benefit of the students, not the speaker. We are not arguing over the feelings of the speaker - I don't really care much about how DeVos feels about this whole thing. The point is, they acted in a way that took away what was to be a dignified ceremony conducted for their benefit. We are sad for the students who did not behave in this way and despite having possible distaste for the politics of DeVos, would have preferred to have a normal commencement. There's a strong parallel between the behavior of this commencement and the rioting/looting in black communities when something happens that angers the community. [/quote]

And to the poster who brought up the 1863 riots in NY and the 1921 event elsewhere, do you have to go back 100 years? We are talking about 2017, and how students - black and white - are being disruptive, rude, and belligerant. Does being liberal mean I have to tolerate that?[/quote]
