A book about splitting from Tyler and being honest in the vulnerabilities and humiliations of rebound relationships at her age would be way more interesting than her “thriving after divorce”, which we know is false. I started watching scamfish on YouTube and the parallels are striking. Sudden loss of husband, investing disproportionate energy and money in a guy who clearly doesn’t love you back, refusing to listen to pleas from family and friends about the delusion. Yes, Tyler the person is real but Tyler the boyfriend is a facade.
Nah, never gonna happen. While this would be refreshingly honest and illuminating, Sis has firmly cast herself in the Main Character/Girl Boss/Whole & Healed role. To admit she got suckered while she was in a vulnerable moment and had the guts to walk away from a "relationship" that wasn't meeting her needs isn't how she wants her corneaters to see her. She wants adulation, not pity, and although I would admire her greatly for dropping the facade and admitting women of this age/generation can make some decisions not in our best interest, she wants "Jen, you're awesome" not "Awe, poor Jen." The prospect of being alone at this age can be scary and the temptation to settle for less than because it's easier and more comfortable than putting yourself back out there is a real thing. The fact that her ex, whatever his faults may be, rebounded quickly into a relationship that seems pretty healthy and stable is probably causing her to perpetuate the charade. They have five kids together and even though they're mostly grown, the kids are involved with both parents. There's now a grandchild on the way and their lives are connected. Say what you want about Brando, he and Texas Barbie look happy, which perpetuates the need to continue with "Look, I have someone too!" Whatever Brando's faults, I bet he spends every single holiday with his new wife and didn't have to check with a female "ride or die" before deciding to date her. While we all talk here about how much of a sham Sass and Sis are - I actually found this group because I was curious about whether they were still together - there are apparently thousands of people who believe that they have a real spark, which makes me think that the internet and influencer culture really makes people stupid.
