I am a Democrat who voted for Youngkin. I am glad that he is putting pressure on the school systems to eliminate the mask mandate. It is a shame that he will enact other policies that I strongly oppose, but I felt that those issues had to be sacrificed for the moment. I am an FCPS high school teacher with high school-aged kids.
For fighting against mask mandates? It was worth it to you? And you know it's just going to be performance--FCPS will be able to keep them as long as the CDC recommends it (and that's how long they would have kept them anyway) or the legislation changes--which isn't the governor anyway. I hope you think about your voting a little more carefully rather than impulsively in the future if this really is your thought process.
+1 Over a mask mandate? For real? Wow.
Since you didn't see my response from upthread. Yes, for real. I do think my voting for Youngkin will be worth it to me and my family. I am hoping that FCPS will bend to the pressure sooner rather than later. We shall see. FWIW, I care mostly about protecting the environment in meaningful ways, enacting strict gun control, and balancing the budget. Not like the Democrats are getting any of that done for me. I think it is a shame that Youngkin is pushing back against the vaccine mandates, but considering the Supreme Court decision, it isn't like McAuliffe would have been able to enforce them either.
Pressure for what? Masks? And VA requires a balanced budget so not sure why that’s relevant. Federally, Ds do a better job at balancing the budget. Ds have pushed for gun control and environmental protections for years. Blocked by Rs. So…for real?
Yes, for real. Four years of Youngkin versus four years of McAuliffe will likely not make much difference with regard to the policies I care about. But hopefully, Youngkin will make a difference with eliminating the mask mandate and keeping our kids in school.
Wow. So incredibly irrational. You say you’re a math teacher?
Sounds reasonable to me. If you care about restricting 2A but you know the Dems won’t do anything about that anyway you may as well choose according to other issues, even if you care about them less. Choosing on an issue they won’t take action on anyway and allowing the one that can actually be affected by your vote to go the opposite way would be irrational. PP has a logical thought process. You are an over emotional dumb dumb.
