NP - first, Megan Markle is not dark.  She barely looks bi-racial.  But didn't all of us Royalwatchers kind of wonder what their babies would look like when they got together?  It had nothing to do with racism and everything to do with her long dark hair and his bright red hair.  Yeah, I had a hard time imagining it.  [/quote]

You seem sincere, and I’m really not sure how to explain how racism and color-ism can play out.

1. Surely you have some sense that at least some Black people have been negatively impacted by racism.
2. Is it so difficult to imagine that a family of literal colonizers who married only other white Protestants, and quite often other descendants of Queen Victoria, prior to Meghan,  might look at his maternal grandmother and mutter something nasty? 
3. Is it at least plausible to entertain the idea that this type of curiosity might have a different tinge — compared to, say, hair color or other racially neutral traits? And that this type of discussion might be multi-layered and hurtful— intentionally or not?

You're sweet to spell this out for the PP. I don't bother anymore - a lot of these posters are coming from cultures and societies where it is considered perfectly fine to practice colorism to the point that it is endemic in relationships and families form the moment they're born.

They won't get it, because its acceptable to them to look down on someone based on caste which is determined by color and heritage. [/quote]
