The only reason Fairfax county has this ludicrous appeals process is because they know there are hundreds of Type A parents who would sue otherwise because their egos can't take. There are tons of bright, motivated, successful kids outside of GT. A family doesn't need a GT "badge of honor" to flaunt at the book club. Whoever heard of a college allowing an "appeal" for an outright rejection? The sad thing is this process leads to more overcrowding for the rightfully deserving students.
Appeal is very normal process for any system. US judicial system has appeal process. College has limited space. AAP selection in FCPS doesn't work that way. Kids don't compete for limited space. Agreed that there are tons of bright, motivated, successful kids outside of GT. That has nothing to do with appeal process.
