Capital 2025 Blue had two commits to Duke from Potomac, one to Michigan from Potomac, one to Stanford from Visitation, one to Florida from PVI, and other to Florida from PVI. Can't make the same argument there buddy ...
Three players you mentioned are from the same high school. Again, preparation and opportunity outside of the club was a huge component. Also, one of the two Florida commits joined Capital from YJMA. Development by Capital of one season wasn't what got her that Florida offer. The top tournaments in the top bracket playing with top talent helped though. That 2025 was the best team in the area and the one of the best in the country. A collection of great talent that was coached well. The 2025 Blue coach is now back with the 2028 Blue team. I'm excited to see him work his magic with that team. First thoughts on the initial 2028 roster, no slight to any of the players, the current collection of talent does not mirror the initial roster of the 2025s. He is a talented coach, lets see if he makes that team into a top 3 team in the country.
So … first you say legendary HS coaches were responsible for Cap player development. And when shown a wide mix of 25 Cap players from different HSs with no coaching “pedigree” were recruited to great schools, you give other excuses. It’s pretty simple: If I were a 29, I’d want to be on a club with history of getting players to great schools. Capital has an undeniable track record of sending players to top lax programs, high academics, and schools where both overlap.
You're interjecting your own bias. I was talking about great high school programs and coaches developing the talent. They develop it because they have had those players for 4 to 6 years. You mentioned Capital development, Capital is supposed to develop team game play to showcase. They do that but they need the best talent. If they don't have the top talent they won't get results similar to past years. Capital has these girls for two years before they commit. There are no excuses and I'm not bias against Capital. It's just facts. If the top 15 players, who Capital would want, decided not to come, well, that Blue team is not comparable to other Blue teams. The top talent will be seen regardless. If those players are supported by their club and in the top tournaments in the top bracket, they will be seen. Colleges recruit players.
And you are interjecting yours. Your first argument was that Cap players were only good bec they were coached by great HS coaches (Scofield, KC, KJ). When given examples of Cap players at Potomac, Visitation, Meridian, SJC going to top programs - players coached by no-name coaches who don’t have the same recognition you assigned the ones you noted — you spin another way to explain it away. Top players won’t just be “seen.” My kid played at Cap and I can tell you from first hand experience that at the summer recruiting tournaments the number of coaches at Cap games were layers deep. Same with M&D. At lesser programs, the number of coaches on the sidelines were sparse. It’s just facts. Your argument has no weight. If SPG, Maryvale, and Spaulding players decided not to play for M&D or Hero’s, they’d be the same players. They’d be the same players at Skywalkers or Coppermine. They seek out M&D bec it’s the best *platform* with the most proven track record of getting players recruited. In the DMV, Capital is this equivalent. Great players want to be at great clubs that give them great exposure to great lax programs and academic schools. Cap delivers this.
+1. I don’t understand why people have a hard time agreeing that both Capital and M&D have great programs that give girls amazing opportunities to play at top lacrosse programs and / or academic schools.
I think for capital it is truly dependent on the year and the talent on the team. The 25 cap team was legit but the 26s, 27s and 28s aren’t the same
Skywalkers = dead. Coppermine too. Hero’s has no players on top three teams. M&D players getting low playing time.
