it was Harry's dream to go fight in the army. it was the only time he felt alive and happy according to him. Being a spare seems so much easier - just fly under the radar. He could have easily moved to Africa (his favorite "home"), worked in wildlife conservation which he clearly had a passion for, and just been plain "Harry" - now hes in some weird place where he has to fund a multimillion dollar mansion and private jets so hes reduced to whining about his family to make a buck.
