I haven't read this entire thread nor was I ever interested in the BRF before this last year or two. I think Megan Markle coming out on Oprah to discuss such a faint shade of racism in a year such as the year we've just had is extremely out of touch and goes to show what a privileged jerk she is. I don't care if someone asked how dark her baby might be. I really don't. It's not news that the BRC might be not be as woke as her CA a** and how slighted she feels in a pandemic year and a year of police brutality and murder....pffffttt. NO ONE cares. Go live your richy rich life in Santa Barbara and good job on alienating your husband from his family. YOU SUCK.
If someone asked her with concern how dark skinned her baby would be, that is not "a faint shade of racism." Are you kidding? (I obviously have no idea if this happened, but the allegation is not trivial from my perspective.)
If someone said it was racist, I believe them (or at least, most people). At the same time, I distinctly remember my MIL asking me the same question about our first (what shade do you think he'll be? your tone, or dad's tone) and we are both white. I think it's not an uncommon thing in the AA Community to ask about skin color - same as eye color etc. with whites. It seems like a natural curiousity, esp if one grandparents is black, but relatively light skinned; MM could "pass" for white but isn't, etc. To say otherwise, GENERALLY, is exactly what people saywhen they mean that being old-fashioned and saying you are "color blind" is off. But again ,it sounds like the implication was that it would be bad if the kid looked black.
