Feedback is one thing.   But, it should be based on facts and not emotion.
RIO's facts are "I want."  Everyone wants stability and a good school.  Not just RIO.  Everyone wants good property values.  There is no reason to think property values will drop.

I've not seen one concrete reason why Crossfield should not go to Skyview.  Not one.  Oakton is at capacity and there are currently well over 50 new construction homes in the boundary--and many more to come.  It is puzzling why the data was not included in the presentation last month.

The new schools will have sports.  VHSL sports.
The new school will have challenging AP classes and electives.
The new school will save money on transportation.
The new school will save time on commute--better quality of life.
The new school will be a community school.  Crossfield families shop in the Skyview area.  The children play sports in the Skyview area.[/quote]

You are saying it is fair to move other people's kids without concrete reason? What benefit bring you by moving other people' kids?

Oakton parents do not shop in Skyview area.

Ask Chantilly parents, ask Mclean Parents, ask Great Falls parents, ask Centreville parents, they will tell you the same reason why they need to stay.

The only people who want to go to Kyview is because the see their house value will increase a lot by rezoned to Skyview.

I would say it is fair for you to give up your home so other people can live in your home and you should work hard to support them!

I’ve got news for you. Pretty much all parents are working hard and doing the best they can to buy a house in the best neighborhood they can afford. Oakton parents are not unique whatsoever. Except maybe stupider if they think paying all that money for a house is going to result in a better outcome for their kid.

Go visit the college forum and you’ll see that it’s a wash. Oakton is an incredibly competitive high school. It is harder for kids to stand out or make sports teams. As an example, it is easier to get into UVA from South Lakes compared to Oakton. I’m not sure all of the hustle is worth it. [/quote]

I just think it's funny that so many people think that the value of their house is based on the high school it's zoned to. There are $2 Million houses zoned to crappy high schools, it's location based. This area is close to Reston where there are a lot of jobs and an easy commute to Tysons, where there are also a lot of jobs. Home values are going to keep going up, not because of the high school they are zoned to, but because this is a high demand area due to high paying jobs within an easy commute. [/quote]

Not really. That is mainly only in bottom tier schools but even then, there are $1+ million homes zoned to Herndon. Do you think Skyview will be a bottom tier school?[/quote]

A lot of people have been saying that Skyview will be on par with Chantilly, and the homes around Chantilly are pretty much the same as the homes in Franklin Farm and the surrounding area. Home values in places like Chantilly Highlands and those zoned to Floris are pretty much the same as Franklin Farm and the surrounding areas, too (because they ARE the surrounding areas). Even Floris houses zoned to Westfield and South Lakes are $1M+ homes.[/quote]

Real estate is expensive here.  A million dollar home is only slightly over the average.   Doesn't mean the schools are good or that houses zoned to a good school don't sell for more. [/quote]
