DP. That is not what the statistic is saying. The American 79-year-old male is expected to live to 87.64, but more than 5% won't live to 80. With every year the odds of dying that year increase. 80 years old is when the odds of dying within a year are greater than those of a newborn. It goes up from there. With more medical detail, there would be more accurate actuarial tables, his odds could be much worse (or he could have an extra decade as a vegetable like his parents).[/quote]
