First casulty: https://www.klkntv.com/rural-southwest-nebraska-clinic-closes-blaming-expected-medicaid-cuts/ Lost jobs. Lost services.
A $50 bn bailout fund for rural hospitals is spitting in the wind in comparison to $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts. More hospitals will close. Collins is deeply concerned, I'm sure. From the story: A clinic in southwest Nebraska announced Wednesday that it is closing due to financial challenges, including anticipated Medicaid cuts.
keep in mind cuts are for people who should not be getting this. If you are illegal and or if you are between 18-60 and able bodied. They are just asking you to volunteer or work 20 hours. Majority of people in the country are okay with this. I keep thinking if I was sneaking in another country the last thought on my mind would be how to get country I snuck in to give me things. Also would not think of asking USA to give me things if I was young and healthy. This is not about people who have legitimate problems because yes there are people from 18-60 who may not be well able to contribute. Also if you can’t find a job then volunteer a bit. How is this horrible?
Medicaid pays for health care. It does not pay people to be unemployed. By definition, if you are using Medicaid, you are using it for health care regardless of your work status. Healthy people aren't going to the doctors and then sitting around in basements playing video games. Just because they call them "work requirements' doesn't make them it about work. Just because Republicans keep lying to you that federal dollars are paying for illegal immigrants doesn't make it true. States can pay for benefits from their own funds but federal funds cannot be used for illegal immigrants. The point of this is to make the requirements onerous and make people give up on Medicaid. No one estimates that work rates will increase and states that have tried it have not seen work rates increase. But lots of people get thrown off the rolls because of confusion, faulty websites, not enough staff to help fix things and so on. Just like every state that has tried it so far and failed. Hospitals will close just like the one in Nebraska did because of looming Medicaid cuts. Everyone in that community will be harmed no matter what kind of health insurance they have.
