I apologize if this has already been answered, but I'm a little new to this thread. Why did the coach of BSC 10 get fired by FVU? Seems like he was doing well over there and was asked to leave, why? Because he wouldn’t play kickball. Come on, I'm being serious. What happened?
He was told to choose between Union and GFR after GFR bought his contract-for-hire coaching company a year earlier. He chose not to dump GFR. Union didn't renew his contract for the following season, but let him finish out his term for the rest of the season including the playoffs. During that time, he negotiated an offer with Bethesda to keep coaching both programs and some of his players followed him to Bethesda. Pretty straightforward.
Why did Union make him choose between GFR and Union? Union invited a bunch of no name clubs to join afterwards — why not just add GFR? At some point it seemed like GFR was going to join.
VYS doesn't want GFR involved and VYS got control after MYS bailed on FVU.
So the bad coaches from Brave kicked the good coaches out bc they didn’t want to be shown up? Merger with GFR would have made much more sense when MYS bailed but they weren’t willing to share power to have a good club?
Yes. VYS folks are difficult to work with and want to run it their way which might make sense if they had ever been particularly successful. But they have not so I'm not sure where the ego comes from. I'm sure MYS thought VYS didn't bring enough value for the trouble to be worth it, and was chasing MLS anyway. Keeping the good coaches and adding GFR would have been the smart play for FVU if they wanted to survive long-term. But they didn't so now everyone is stuck with the drama, at least until ECNL gets tired of it and demands another change.
