I just find it sad that families looking to move into this area are going to search "Crossfield" and come across all the nastiness on this thread. I hope they will know and understand it's only a select few people, almost all of whom will gone by 2027 that are acting like this. My kids are in younger grades and all of the parents that I've met have been really kind. It's just the older/Gen X parents that seem to be really snobby and competitive and they're aging out soon!
Sure, you don't want to be competitive, and your children would be outcompete by Chinese in China. But at least you get to pick up your child in 10 minute so that's the most important thing.
I see someone is hitting the Chardonnay tonight.
DP China does prioritize education way more than we do. Unforutunately in a global economy, that is a boon for them, and a challenge for us. We can't rest on our laurels forever. If we ever let them import their EVs into the US, our auto industry is done and so the is our industrial base.
And sending kids to Western HS will somehow lower their education?? Do you hear yourself? We don’t want to be anything like communist China. The Chinese make their kids go to Saturday school. Their kids are so stressed out. Feel free to move to China if you prefer their education system.
All I am saying is we prefer education quality over bus commute. That is a reasonable position. Nothing to put down on Western HS, but it's an unknown with teachers, sports and activities (including STEM competition which is important in college application). Bus commute is not a concern for crossfield parents. So if you are not in crossfield, don't worry about us, we'll manage.
Honestly, that’s not a winning argument. Here are the real reasons why Crossfield should be excluded. Relief FCPS’s own study does NOT show Oakton needing relief. Reid has repeatedly said the new Western HS is intended to relieve Westfield, Chantilly, and Centreville. Any relief to Oakton and South Lakes is purely optional. Split feeder patterns If they go with Option B and moves Oak Hill to Carson and Crossfield to Franklin, Carson’s split feeder mess would be 100% solved. Distance Crossfield is farther from Western HS than Floris, Coates, McNair, Oak Hill, AND Fox Mill. The entire Crossfield boundary sits east of Route 286, forcing every bus to cross that busy road twice a day. Remember the distance from Crossfield to Oakton is NOT a stated consideration for Western HS boundary; it's just what McDaniel is preaching. October 23 presentation states the FCPS boundary review process for Western High School is designed to reduce overcrowding in our western high schools, with the goal of balancing student capacity. In addition, this review will: ● Seek to eliminate attendance islands ● Reduce split feeder patterns wherever feasible ● Provide access to programming
Oh look, a PTO mama showed up. Option B does NOT have Crossfield moving to Franklin. You made that up. STOP LYING TO CROSSFIELD FAMILIES.
