I am no Trump fan at all. In fact, I prayed the entire four years that he was in office that he would die. Dark I know, but it's the truth. I just didn't realize the depth of his actual depravity until I started following the 1/6 hearings. After following some of the hearings and reading actual correspondence between the Oath Keepers and Trump, I am pissed that this man was ever allowed anywhere near the White House. What the hell is wrong with us, America? How did we fall so far as a country to allow this degenerate to win even one election. I am seriously concerned for our country. 2024 may just break us.
It’s what the hell is wrong with the GOP, not with “us.” There is not and never has been a both sides to this. There is the GOP actively blocking campaign finance reform, their regressive justices opening the spigot of dark money. The GOP undermines democracy at all levels and in multiple ways. The GOP has devolved from Eisenhower down to Trump/DeSantis, the kind of fascist cowards who are only powerful as much as bullies ever are, the kind of cowards who are almost victims of political crimes - but then they keep supporting the people who plotted to have them killed. You’re right. Trump shouldn’t have been anywhere near the White House, but he was and the same party that made that happen (with treason!) will do it again. The GOP, as the inheritor of the confederacy, of the people who wouldn’t change a damn thing in regards to the US’s genocide if we had it all to do over again, is the problem. There is no time to straddle “both sides” anymore; that response is actually preventing us from fixing the problem.
