R H Macy was the founder of what we know as the iconic Macy's dept store. He died of some disease in the late 1800s. The store stayed in the Macy family for a bit, but was eventually acquired by the Strauss Brothers- the one brother and his wife died with the Titanic sinking. [/quote]
