Agree with that! I was a little horrified by that scene.

Also, when Toby says he's taking the LA job and Kate responds, okay: She wasn't thrilled. She likes being on her own with the kids to herself. That was NOT welcome news to her, so the best she could muster was a neutral "okay." Felt really bad for Toby. And that crappy little windowless office at his new job. He made all the sacrifices. I can't think of a single thing she did to save the marriage.

Someone on reddit said that Kate is attracted to broken men, which you could see when she lit up toward Phillip after he told his sob story about the dead wife and why she doesn't like new Toby-not-a-coping-mechanism. It's an interesting theory. If true, then she would have perceived more of Jack's dysfunction than she is consciously aware of. She thinks of him as the perfect dad and husband, but some part of her brain knows otherwise.[/quote]
