Her language skills: it’s her way of not having to talk to anyone. Plus who wants to talk to Trump or his offspring? It’s bad enough she has to have marital relations with the man
A European who can't speak good English is very likely not properly educated. Especially the ones who end up in America. Yes there are exceptions but everyone in urban/suburban America surely has had 100s/1000s of encounters with people from Europe who had great English fluency. Melania's terrible accent can't cover up her lack of English ability. She struggles saying some words, that someone else wrote in her speech, because she doesn't know how to pronounce them; because she's never said them out loud before.
She speaks French. Italian, and German as fluently as she speaks English.
Bull effing shit. I cant vouch for German but as someone who is multilingual she can barely stammer out a hello in French and Italian.
Learn to read nuances. Obviously, she doesn't speak English fluently and she doesn't speak the other languages fluently.
I'm French, and learned English, German and Spanish at school. Since I've lived in the US for 20 years and love to read and use the English language, I'm fluent. But I'm guessing Melania has the same level of proficiency in European languages she learned at school and does not use as I have - I can read some sentences in German and Spanish, and speak a few words, but that's about it.
Have a number of friends who speak English as a second or third language. Each one said more or less the same thing to me, paraphrased here - "it's very clear that she doesn't speak English often over the course of a day, if at all. Lots of us still have strong accents, but she speaks haltingly and off a sheet of paper. For someone who is FLOTUS, one would think that she would have developed some level of proficiency but clearly not." Then usually there is some crack about her special skills/genius visa.
