SSSAS over Holton 15-4
ISL AA. As one who like to see disruption and upsets, I think we have enough information to say that this is not the year that Holy Child or Holton break into the top 4 in the ISL. Could Holy Child compete with Potomac toward the end of the season if they improve? Maybe, but I don't see any other possible wins for the "next two". And for the Bullis booster, they appear to be slightly improved, but are not going to beat any of those 6 teams. As for the the ISL A level, some speculated that Sidwell might step up. Then they lost to St. Mary's Ryken. Only remaining potential interesting development I see, is whether NCS can compete. They simply haven't played much lacrosse yet, but should be ready to take the ISL A on paper. If they handle Sidwell tomorrow, then the Holton Arms game next week might be worth watching.
How was this match up?
Holton by 4 (13-9), but you probably knew that. Notable that top tier of ISL A (NCS and Sidwell) are closer to Holton (within 4 goals), than Holton is to the top of the ISL AA (6-11 goals). Seems likely that NCS and Sidwell appear to be as good or better than Bullis and Episcopal. Maybe a Premier league style relegation/promotion would make sense.
Yes Holton by four, but that’s not the whole story. At half it was 8-3 and Holton played a man down for the entire second half. The player who was benched also is Holton’s top player. While just a scrimmage at the beginning of the year, Holton played Sidwell and handled them easily. NCS has a lot of great young talent that will be fun to watch grow over the next few years, and I am confident they will be better and stronger. There’s a need for a middle division. Maybe. AAA, AA, A. And there should be a shot clock in lower divisions. It does the A teams a disservice to not be playing with one because once they move up to AA they don’t have the style of play needed when using a shot clock.
why was a Holton player benched for the whole second half? is she a D1 commit?
