LOL at kids being ostracized years from now because parents disagree with boundary studies. I like H so 90% of the community is going to look down on my kid years from now? GMAFB. It's not that deep. Kim, there's people that are dying...
It’s not. It was the pro H poster who first suggested that kids would be ostracized, which—I agree—is just wild. The 90% was in response to that person. I’m against H. But I’m not cool with calling kids losers or ostracizing kids. If H is the chosen option, while I don’t agree, I would work toward building a close knit community.
Dufief mom here (just catching up after a friend said this chain was wild today): I am so happy to hear this because this has had me concerned recently. I also want to say that I think the ongoing threat of litigation is going to undermine this effort to build a close knit community. Is this something that is being considered for Fallsmead and Lakewood families who, like you, wherever you are from, want this sort of community for all our kids?
Lol nice try. Admire the effort to stop litigation. The final decision isn’t the vote but what happens after litigation. Let the courts decide what the final decision is. And if it is H, ok let’s go full steam ahead. Plus litigation, or threat thereof, doesn’t stop community building or cluster wide events. I met plenty of very nice and great Dufief families at the Harlem Wizards game. Yall have a pretty cool principal and I didn’t know yall had a Dragon as a mascot, which is also pretty neat!
Super not an effort to stop litigation--do I think it's frivolous and a waste, sure, but not my waste. I really do worry about the message it sends to the kids of "we are still trying to get you guys to not go to school with them or over there" which feels very counter to trying to build community to me. I come in peace, I promise!
The lawsuit is not at all about not going to school with XYZ group of kids. I personally am not in conversations with people who make disparaging about kids whether explicitly or implicitly. And if I heard people make those remarks, I would ask them to please shut up. Every group has its own “crazies”. Someone in the pro H group starts targeting folks by name. Someone else in pro H started calling kids losers.
Regardless of the basis for the lawsuit, I guess the desired outcome is to "not go to school over there with those people" so I guess I am not really sure families and children will be able to work to build community while still hoping it doesn't happen. But I am always open to being wrong and I really hope I am because we do all want the best for our kids, I know that. And, for sure on the last part--people are unhinged, about...so many things. I don't know about doxxing people (here? Fb?) but I did see the loser comment and thought it was gross. Especially from someone who is not personally impacted by the outcome. I have always asked people to approach others with understanding even if we disagree (reading the book, "I Respectfully Disagree: How to have difficult conversations in a divided world" now and it's great). I think it has been so disheartening/classless to see cluster schools target Dufief or the contingents from Stone Mill and Travilah who also are excited about this new chapter and really hope it stops.
Ignore the question-my friend caught me up and I hear I was name dropped! I feel famous!! Thanks, friends :)
IDK which one you were, but lol I was name dropped too. And, while I agree not cool, I also felt famous. So look at that, another thing we have in common :P.
One of my best friends (who I met in 2016 on DCUM---crazy, I know) was one of your OG anti H admins. I know y'all aren't bad people. I'll post on here and bat signal you next time I'm in Fallsmead and we can hang!
