Regarding canceled. I’m really baffled that people don’t understand this. For Taylor to have so many versions on vinyl that people are going out preorder, the recordings have to be locked down at least six months in advance. For all the pre-sales and distributions that Taylor does, probably longer. So she had to have finished all the recordings by early 2025. It is definitely possible that when Blake’s life started blowing up in August and September 2024 Taylor flew back to Sweden to record canceled. Personally, I don’t think it’s likely but it’s possible. But that is not the question. Taylor had a double date with Blake and Ryan as late as October 2024 so we know they were still friends. The timeline in question as well after that. People did not know why she did not issue a statement of support or be seen with Blake in December 2024 when the times article hit. The theory is that she and her people knew this was going to get really messy and that she was going to likely get dragged in so she was probably annoyed and didn’t want to do anything. But the real shit hit the fan near the Super Bowl when Blake was not invited and knew that was going to look bad and pressured Taylor to put out a statement. That’s when supposedly the extortion happened and that is when report started coming out that the friendship was permanently over. So unless the theory is that Taylor just didn’t want to get involved, but wanted to show support - so flew out to Sweden in February-March of this year to record canceled in a vague show of support of her friend which is highly unlikely, it really doesn’t matter if canceled is about Blake. Their friendship ties severed later than the record recording. Canceled is likely about many people. The song references bringing a tiny violin to a knife fight - a tiny violin a symbol for sympathy and Charli has a song called sympathy for a knife or whatever - it’s at least a reference to Charli. But anyway, it doesn’t explain why Travis unfollowed Ryan and why they have not been seen together since last October, why Blake is not joining any mutual friend group outings or why she wasn’t at Taylor’s album release party. Or why Taylor issued that really loaded statement that was definitely a dig at Blake saying that she hadn’t watched the movie for weeks after. I suppose we will really know when the wedding festivities start and Blake is either invited or not. Saying cancelled is about Blake is the most desperate attempt I’ve seen by the pro Blake crowd to try to keep their friendship going. It’s just weird.
The line “did your girl boss get too close to the sun” is from 2025. Also Taylor could pull a song if she wanted too, even late in the game. She said this album and it’s songs were highly personal.
No, she could not pull a song. If you know anything about Taylor, she is obsessive about numbers. It’s why some people think she might be neurodivergent. There were going to be 12 songs on the album. She wasn’t going have her 12th album be 11 songs. It just wasn’t going to happen. She’s also very intentional about the day that she puts the song out, the day that she announces, it all has to do with numbers. Just a little googling and you can see this. Girl boss was popular about 10 years ago so I truly don’t think she wrote that in 2025. Sorry. There’s absolutely no way she wrote this song in 2025 and it would appear on the album. It’s simply not possible with the amount of vinyl records that she was shipping out to hit the early October deadline. And she’s not that lame. If she was wanted to be so intentional about supporting Blake as latest 2025, the song would be more obvious.
They write and record way more than the number of songs needed per album. The line was a specific reference to a Candace Owen interview from 2025. There are also several other direct references (I cannot believe I know this): whiskey sours, Gucci, etc. Before you come at me, I am not pro-Blake (not pro-Baldoni either).
You really think she wrote recorded the song in Sweden in 2025? That’s just so odd. Her boyfriend was getting ready for the Super Bowl, and then they both had time off and she’s spending her time recording a song for Blake lively who she’s not willing to be seen with in over a year? Just doesn’t add up. I’m willing to believe part of this song is about her but written and recorded in 2024 before the friendship blew up. It’s just a bridge too far to think this is a 2025 song. She didn’t record this album with Jack and Aaron. The two producers and cowriters are in Sweden and that’s where all the songs were recorded. Taylor’s lawyers have extracted her from this case. She is no longer involved. There would be no reason for her to not be seen with Blake or not give some kind of subtle sign of support at this point. It just doesn’t make any sense that her one show of support would be a vague song, and it doesn’t add up that she recorded a song in 2025.
So you think the Candace Owen’s 2025 comment that in reference to the Baldoni/Lively drama, Lively and Swift were “girl bosses that got too close to the sun” was a coincidence?
