What makes an urban, car free lifestyle possible are deliveries and taxi/ride sharing. I’m curious how long people will enjoy their neighborhoods when it’s difficult to get this services at their door. It’s also important to point out that this design directly contradicts the DOT recommendations. No better way to deaden a community than to make it so that traffic cannot stop. [twitter]https://mobile.twitter.com/AdamTuss/status/1531750918806458369[/twitter]
I’m not totally clear what the problem is on that block, but sure, there are always mistakes and improvements. The people who want to get in the way of any changes slow that process down.
You are clearly intellectually lazy, which is why you get so much wrong. The report goes into great detail about what the problem is. They took away the parking/curb lane for a bike lane and now there is no place for deliveries to stop at these new, luxury apartments. I’d imagine that if you are paying premium for an apartment, you would hope that you could easily get deliveries and be able to catch a taxi or Uber in front. However, when the transportation priorities are to remove street parking and let cyclists maintain momentum the flip side is that it decreases the quality of life for thousands of people.
I clicked on the clip and it didn’t go into that much detail. Generally DDOT plans for delivery and pick up/drop off areas. Yes, it’s a change. Yes, everything can be improved.
