Putin isn’t great but strategists and theorists will be studying and writing about how he masterfully positioned Russia from 2008-2022 in terms of defense modernization and bolstering foreign reserves. He skillfully navigated hard times to fortify thr Russian state. Now they are ready to assert themselves
Russia is in worse shape in almost every way than it was before Putin. He and his oligarch friends have looted the country for nothing.
That is demonstrably untrue as Russia under Yeltzin was much much worse.
Yeah it’s clear most people here don’t know anything about Russia Just because Russia doesn’t consoom like America, doesn’t mean Russia is some third world backwater. Russia was in a much worse place even 15 years ago.
Chechen war. Read up on how Putin came to power. This is the only way he knows how to hold the power. Anytime it starts slipping there’s this or that military conflict that only he can solve.
Er...Chechnya WAS a terrible awful place, and things that took place there definitely needed to be smacked down. I do not support ground campaigns that took place but you should know that this place was lawless hellhole that spread extremist poison throughout North Caucasus.
