Reporting from Lisbon (we live here): 41 cases reported so far in all of Portugal. Most are concentrated in the north around Porto, but some confirmed cases in the Algarve too. Events are cancelled in those areas. Many universities have moved to online courses. Government will decide today whether or not to close down all schools early for spring break (potentially this week). Health hotline is apparently overwhelmed, taking over an hour to respond to calls. There has been a run on disposable gloves, face masks & sanitizer throughout Portugal. TAP has cancelled 3500 flights scheduled between now and end of May (roughly 20%).

In Lisbon, foot traffic and crowds are very thin. Municipal government here has cancelled cultural events for the next three weeks ending 3 April as well as public facilities like swimming pools. But they have said their hope is to keep museums and cultural attractions open. At least for now!

I’d still cancel travel if you have the option - the bigger risk is potentially catching something in transit and having delays and/or surprise quarantines.[/quote]
