Ok, continue with the name calling. Just know not everyone here buys into your theory that the niqab is some sort of dress for the upper class society women to prove they didn't have to work (that would be a new one for the SAHM/WOHM wars on here! LOL) and that hijab is written in the Koran. I guess that makes me stupid in your eyes or your eye slits, then so be it. To the OP- did you get what you wanted out of this thread?
I've theorized that you're stupid. Now I know that for a fact - seeing as I've told you I'm not Muslim and yet you keep prattling about my eye slits.
Third poster here. 1. The veil was a class symbol in Mohammed's day. This is a historical fact related to the difficulty of doing manual labor while holding cloth over your face, and DCUM's august historians may be the only ones disputing it. Not any more, though. In fact in countries where hijab isn't mandatory, the reverse is often true--poorer women are often more conservative about things like hijab than wealthy women. 2. Hijab is not written in the Quran. There's something about drawing your cloth over attractive parts (your translations may vary and I don't have time to google the passage). But nothing specific about covering your hair. Certainly nothing about hair being a sexual weapon that needs to be covered, as you so often read on DCUM. OP and her friends seem to be calling other posters lobotomized, stupid and more. Me thinks OP "got what she wanted out of this thread", which was a cat fight, even if she had to stir the pot with her lobotomy quips. I suppose the cat fight provided reasons to feel victimized and a corresponding boost to identity. Perhaps OP should explain her goals.
You're conflating several posters. I was the PP who was the first to explain that face covering was a class symbol, not a political statement, and also the poster who mocked the idiot claiming the niqab came about as an anti-kidnapping measure. The lobotomy comment was also mine. The "stupid" comment was also mine when one the posters kept assuming I'm Muslim and referring to the "slits of my eyes" - even after I told her I'm neither Muslim nor covered. It's fun to call out the stupid. And I don't know the OP or what she wanted to achieve by this.
