My husband's extended family all referred to their grandparents as Nana and Papa. That's what my MIL called her grandparents, that's what my husband called his grandparents, and that's what my daughter calls my ILs. There are lots of regional and cultural variants of names for grandparents. This is not a new thing. [/quote]
