I think it is time to double the number of police on the metro force. I also think what is happening is beyond Chief Lanier's capabilities as a leader. I think it time DC gets a new chief. There really isn't any proactive policing that I can see.
None what so ever. Years ago we used to have police drive through the alleys. I haven't seen a police car, bike, scooter, walker in my alley in several years. Burglaries are up. I was physically attacked right outside the back of my house. MPD said because the perp didn't take anything, it wasn't a robbery. And, because I did not see a weapon, it was a simple misdemeanor assault. Mind you, at the time I was a fifty year old lady who was physically forced to the ground. But, hey MPD likes to control the stats, so they put my encounter in the misdemeanor pile. And I never heard from them again. Paper pushers are what MPD has become now. Paper pushers. Take a report. File the report. Take the next report. File, rinse repeat. Oh, and this was well before Black Lives Matter FWIW to that BLM poster.
