I will be voting for Trump, so I guess you would consider me a Trump supporter. I do not agree with everything he has said. Yes, he has said things that make me cringe or gasp and some of his ideas are out in left field. But, I have yet to find a candidate that I agree with on everything. The difference is that most of the other candidates are not as provocative. But, I cannot vote for Hillary. I disagree with almost everything she stands for and I truly believe this country will be in worse shape in 4 years if she wins. So, I have come to terms with the idea of voting Trump. I have friends and family who will not vote for him because of what he has said, and I have friends and family who are eager to vote for him - they, also, do not agree with everything he has said. I also believe that the media has blown up a lot of what he has said and made it into something it isn’t. I don’t have any problem being friends with Trump supporters. Because, I know most of them are like me.
OP here. I don't agree with many of Hillary's positions either (or maybe I do depending on what day she decides to change them). I'm not here to defend Hillary. My gripe is specifically with people who reason themselves into supporting Trump. Trump has called for the US govt to create a database of Muslims in this country. Essentially a registry: http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/trump-says-he-would-certainly-implement-muslim-database-n466716. This wasn't "blown out of proportion by the liberal media." He stands by this and has doubled down on it. There is no middle ground in that policy. You either start limiting our freedoms, or you don't. What I am hearing is that you believe Hillary is so dangerous, that you are willing to sacrifice our country's integrity and the freedoms of innocent citizens because you think Trump is that much better? What has Trump done to garner such confidence? What has he ever done in his life to show he can deliver? Become rich? There are plenty of rich people in this world. Do the rights of others not matter to you? Because simply saying Hillary is worse doesn't excuse the fact that you are supporting a person who holds these type of views. Using Trump as an anti-Hillary vote means you support such discriminatory policies and racist/sexist views. There no way around that. I cannot with good conscience ever befriend such a person with such a stance.
