I think that most people understand the American judicial system and the fact that the court provides attorneys to all defendants, and that those attorneys are bound by their profession to provide a robust defense. If they do not, then they need to do some critical thinking about what life might be like in a country where people are jailed with no advocacy. It is my sincere hope that young lawyers doing public defender and pro bono work are not refusing to take unpleasant cases on the off chance that they will run for president in 40 years, but I guess that is what you would prefer them to do.[/quote]
