Seriously? Pyramids? That's the angle you're going with? The man's view on the pyramids? Sanders thinks socialism works, and you're fine with that, so you're debating Egyptian Architecture?
There have been many natural experiments with Sanders' "socialist" policy proposals that provide evidence of their effectiveness and viability. He's not pulling this sh!t out of his azz. Carson, however, seems to turn to his backside for a few too many of his ass-ertions.
Carson came up with this by himself, but based on Genesis, which tells of Joseph stored grain in Egypt enough for seven years. Now, some folks believe a guy was nailed on a cross, died, then rose from the dead. Seriously, they do. Better yet, some crazies think a lamp burned for 8 days. Clearly these nutcases are unqualified for office.
It's a little different. Many religions believe that, from time to time, God intervenes in the world to do something miraculous and otherwise impossible. A debatable point, to be sure, but it is one most people are willing to give others a pass on even if they disagree, as the debate on the existence of God fairly remains open in the minds of many. Not everyone agrees, of course, but most people seem to think that one can hold religious views without being crazy or stupid. The Joseph thing seems to me metaphysically different, as a flatly made up and erroneous account of reasonably well settled historic fact. In some ways it seems less rational than just straight-up believing ancient aliens built the pyramids. A subjective impression, of course, so your mileage may vary.
Carson did not come up with this by himself. An SDA pretend-archaeologist named Wyatt for some reason devoted a lot of time trying to claim that the Joseph in Genesis is in fact Imhotep of Egypt, but he did not claim that all of the pyramids were grain silos: http://www.arkdiscovery.com/joseph.htm
