A few key points that I feel have been missed in this discussion so far:
1) Charters offer some things that JKLMs do not offer even if the quality of education is more or less the same. For some, it is help for SNs, for others it is immersion, for others it is a specific teaching model. Since there are not charters offering these options that serve Upper NW, Upper NW residents should be free to lottery for the charters just like everyone else. 
2) You don't have to have more money to live in Upper NW and have access IBs to JKLM. You just have to be willing to: a) have less space; and/or b) have fewer kids. This is not universally true but I doubt that there are many people reading this thread that could not afford to rent a small apartment in-bounds for a JKLM. You just don't want to make that sacrifice. Don't be so angry at those of us who are willing to do so and don't deny us access to immersion or SN programs that you can lottery into. You make your choices, we make ours.

I love it that LAMB kids come from all over the city, including some Ward 3 SFHs. It is true SES and racial diversity.
