[/quote] No point unless you also want to communicate with relatives. There are millions of Chinese who speak English just fine. Why bother being a white American speaking poor Chinese. Let alone the years it would take to read a newspaper or write in characters. Just do a business speaking course and learn about the culture - will help you more 10,000+ flashcards and tapes.
