I feel like some people look down at people who vacation at Disney? Before I had kids, we traveled the world. I admit that I looked down at some co-workers who seemed to only travel to Florida and the Caribbean. Now that I have 2 young kids, we often vacation in Florida and the Caribbean. We have done an Orlando trip every year since my kid was 3yo. It's just so easy to do the 2 hour flight. When my younger child is 5, we plan to start doing trips to Europe and Asia but for now, we will stick to our FL and Caribbean vacations including our annual trip to Orlando. Why do people look down at Disney?
Hello OP, I've pretty much got the same profile as you. Born in another country, have traveled to over 30 countries (you've got me beat with your 50+ there), have 2 kids, looked down on Disney (but definitely not the Caribbean). Before kids, DH and I took weekend trips to Europe because it was cheaper than going to the West coast. We've done totally budget vacations and splurge vacations. We took our kids to Asia when they were 1 and 3- we went to Hong Kong Disney- ha! Also took them to Europe when they were 3 and 5 but we decided not to go to Disney Paris that time. Sure there is a lot of romance in taking small kids to Europe but it falls in the "things that are not really as fun as they look." My kids enjoyed Europe but they pretty much have fun everywhere they go. Did I enjoy Europe with the kids? Well, not as much as going to an all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean. I do understand why people go crazy over Disney and while we have been a couple of times, it's not something I'd want to every year. My kids also are now in upper elementary aren't big Disney fans. We do love going to Orlando to the other non-Disney parks and have done more trips doing that.
+1 State dept so have been to many countries. With little kids a nice resort in the Caribbean is hard to beat. And Orlando is a nice get away with many fun things to do with children.
