Well, you used to do the same thing OP. Why did you look down on people who went to Disney?
OP here. I thought there were so many better places to visit in the world - France, Spain, Greece, Italy, China, Thailand, Japan, etc. Life is drastically different with young children. I hope to pick up better travel once the kids are older.
No kidding, and we did the math, it's almost the same cost to travel to Europe as a week at Disney!!
can you show me your math?
OP here. Our trips have been 4-5 nights but I can do the math for the previous poster who does the full week at Disney. Flights for a family of 4 - $1200 Disney Tickets - $2000 7 nights at Deluxe Hotel - $4200 Food/Souvenirs - $3000 You could take a trip to Europe for $10k.
I have kids who are 2 and 6. I am pretty sure a European vacation would not be very enjoyable with them. I would expect to hear a lot of whining and complaining that they are bored. They do it when we do some local day trips that involve site seeing. Why would I spend the money to go to Europe to hear them complain when I can just take them to Gettysburg! Disney would make them happy. For us, it's not an every year thing, but it's a fun experience for a kid. You expect them to enjoy every vacation you want to take, why not give them a vacation they may love? Perhaps your 2 and 6 year olds are more cultured than mine and that's okay. I'd like my kids to be kids and Disney works for us! You can teach them the evils of Disney when they are old enough to really understand.
