NP here, and I downloaded the "Walking on Eggshells" book. On the one hand, it explains so much about my sibling. On the other hand, I feel so frustrated. Because sibling will always be the way they are (unless they choose to get help). For my own peace, I cannot be around their volatility and attacks. Loving one second, lashing out the next. In a way, I've learned to mourn them. Sibling is still alive. They have a job. They are married with kids. But I had to sever that relationship and mourn them like they're fully gone. It's sad, but for me, there's no way I can maintain contact and a relationship with someone who has lost their footing in reality.
Who are you mourning? Are you actually mourning the loss of this real person or are you mourning the fact that the person will never be who you want them to be? Is this a "Wow this person used to be so nice and we used to be so close and now he/she has changed" or "you know, I really never clicked with him/her and I'm just done dealing with his/her sh*t"? I ask this mainly because you say that you are mourning, grieving your decision to stay away from this sibling. I'm assuming that you used to be close to them?
