Disgusting and racist? That would have been Cobbs biting my head off for asking how many Asian children were at L-T past PreK in front of other prospective parents. I'm told the answer was one. Her answer was WHAT AN INAPPROPRIATE QUESTION (at high volume). My ill feelings about Cobb were surely passed down to my own kids, who were standing right there. Any wonder that some of us are surprised and pleased that DCPS has selected a white principal? We may be disappointed in her stewardship of the school, but, hey, it's a new day for now.
It's sad (and telling) that you cannot see how your attitude about the actions of one individual has poisoned you to the abilities and capabilities of an entire race of people. Furthermore, the fact that you are not thinking beyond your posted comment to the fact that many teachers at Ludlow-Taylor are African-American, and these sentiments of yours could actually do great harm to their sense of pride and the classroom community that each of them strive to build with all the children (yours included) on a daily basis. You are more than entitled to spew your vitirol at/about Cobbs, but to then act as if she is representative of all black principals in DCPS is really reprehensible. It would seem that there is already a great racial divide at Ludlow-Taylor, and attitudes like yours and others of your ilk will make it incredibly difficult for the new principal to try and build any sense of community in the school. Really quite a shame that you don't seem to realize this, and instead defend your words and actions.
