I go through makeup phases ranging from sunscreen and eyebrow pencil only to everything but foundation. My job does not require a polished look. I avoided most makeup because of sensitivities to the ingredients. Mascara makes my eyes swell up. It looks like I got into a fist fight. I'm late 30s and finally figured out which ingredient I'm allergic to. It's petroleum and it's in almost every non-powder makeup product. Knowing what I need to avoid has made makeup more attainable and less stressful. I went shopping and wear these things most days: sunscreen, eyeliner, eye shadow, mascara, concealer, powder and eyebrow pencil. I should use lip tint or color, but I rarely remember to use it.
Huh? There may have been petroleum in makeup decades ago, but I have never heard of petroleum being in any modern-day cosmetics. I just looked at the ingredients on my makeup (foundation, concealer, mascara, etc) and not one contains petroleum.
Straight up petroleum, not so much, but 75% of the ingredients in cosmetics are petroleum derived. I don't know how different an ingredient needs to be for PP not to react to it. And most mascaras have petroleum in them.
