Right now, I'm thinking we can do very real harm on the ground if we intervene. If we do intervene, we are hoping to do ... what, exactly? Overthrow Assad? Lob a few cruise missiles?

Not intervening has the chance of lessening our moral stature and making Obama look smaller. Of course the "bomb everything" crowd will be complaining.
