While there are many liberal individuals in the area, there is also a fairly large contingent of conservatives in the area that will be hostile whether openly or covertly. There is a large conservative Jewish community in Bethesda and CC and also a fairly active conservative Christian population. While there will be many people open to your situation, there will also be a significant number of people who really would wish that you kept your relationship and family in the closet and some will be vocal about it.
