Why? Because it is not a marital asset ......... it is something that was left to one of the parties by usually family and has nothing to do with the contribution either party made towards the marital assets. Now, if I were to inherit a substantial amount of money, I'd be more than happy to pay for the kids' college or something similar ...... but am not obligated to do so any more than my spouse would be if the shoe were on the other foot.[/quote]
