Nothing. It's a prejudice or "feeling of superiority" based on social and economic class/status. There are families who simply find W-L and Wakefield unacceptable. [/quote]

It's all relative however. W-L has more affluent white students than most FCPS schools. But in Arlington's cloistered world, the smugness (among a small group) is typically associated with Yorktown. FCPS parents at wealthy but more diverse schools like McLean and Langley see this attitude in the stands and other community events.

It certainly isn’t more diverse than Wakefield.  At least as of a couple of years ago, WHS was the second most diverse HS in Virginia, after a HS in Richmond. [/quote]
