Well done FVU! There is a lot of talent in that team.
A lot of talent is a stretch... There is one main talent that the team plays kickball towards and hopes she'll make something happen.
Assuming this is the case, are the other parents annoyed by this or just happy to win? We had played for a team that was similar and the coach supported it. It was bad soccer and thus, we could never beat good teams because they would adapt and shut the kid down. We moved on to a different team but it continues and the other parents seem ok with giving it to one kid to score. I think they are mostly ok with it because they want to win and this is really the only way for them to do that.
DP and at this point I think my kid would be happy to end up on a team like that. Was on a team like that a couple years ago and the player left, now playing MLS Next. Now the team can pass the ball well, but no one can finish.
To make sure I am clear, you would want a team that depends solely on one player via kick and run vs total soccer? Just want to make sure I am understanding your response. If so, why is this a good thing?
Maybe not to that extreme. But it's getting a little old to be sold the "total soccer" thing just to lose over and over. What's the point of "playing the right way" if it results in a loss every time? Winning even half the time would be nice. My kid isn't going pro, and college is also unlikely. So I am now a little skeptical of the "learn to play the right way for the long run" mentality. It feels like coaches use it to justify poor results. There is no long run for most of these kids. Maybe they just want to enjoy being on a good team for a few years, even if it means one kid does most of the scoring. Mine is happy to be the kid who can get the ball to that player. The little short passes in the back don't work too well if you don't have someone who can break through. I realize this is not the "right" opinion but oh well.
Its not about right or wrong its about know how and you have shown you are ignorant of soccer development. This is ok, just stop posting on things you know nothing about.
Yeah that's not how this works. You don't get to tell other people whether or not they can post. I know a ton about another sport that has its own forum on here, and I don't go over there telling people to stop posting when it's clear they are just sharing their perspective as a parent who didn't compete in that sport. Who cares if I know more? It doesn't affect whatever perspective and experience they are having with their kid in the sport. I don't need to go prove how knowledgeable I am. The soccer board really seems to attract that type.
