Maryvale did the rest of IAAM a favor, keeping would be starters on other teams on the sideline at MV. Much like mcdonogh a decade earlier.
Maryvale will remain strong the next two years as the 2027 and 2028 classes stay intact. Talent will begin dropping off as 2030's and beyond choose other schools. Unless MV brings in a "connected" coach, there isn't much else to offer going to MV. That being said, like the previous poster, still baffles me why girls/parents attend a school based strictly on the lax coach.
Families of 27 and 28 girls are already exploring other schools. The most talked about replacement who has applied isn’t an inspired choice.
Why would 27 and 28 go to other schools? They will have already committed to colleges. Why not continue to play with top talent and continue to dominate?
A few girls have good public school lax programs they could go back too. Glen Elg and Marriott’s Ridge. Maybe mom and dad will no longer want to pay for a school just because of its lacrosse coach. Maryvale isn’t a high academic private school and GlenElg and Marriotts Ridgge are decent schools academically.
This is what I was thinking. Parents might have thought it was worth the sacrifice (distance, cost) for a certain coach, but may see the value in staying close to home if they have a good public school with a good lacrosse team. I think especially for some of the HoCo 28s who will already be recruited and have at least one IAAM championship, maybe 2.
