I think those of you who think this is a positive thread are the ones who don't get it. I also think you may need to get off social media. Social media is where these made-up "war against -insert group here-" are made up and pushed to rile you up. This site is the only type of social media thing I frequent and this site is the only place I see idiotic threads like this. People are pushing back at OP not for praising boys (for FFS, what is wrong with you if you actually think that is true), but for all the other things that her post implies, that girls aren't helping, that girls aren't as good as boys as shoveling snow (honestly, who waste's energy arguing about this?), that boys are so persecuted these day. If you buy into this idea that life is so hard for men right now, you need to get off social media and spend some time in the real world. In the real world among real people, I don't see persecution of my son. I still fear more for the safety of my daughter in the real world. Men still hold more seats in Congress, more CEO positions. Name a position of real power in the world, and there are still more men that women. A few years ago, men got called out for the bad behavior behind the scenes of SOME men and for sometimes being good men who do nothing when it happens. This was a good thing. No one is saying all behavior by all men is bad all the time-that's just insanity. And the idea that boys need extra huge helping of praise right now and girls don't is just crazy too. This whole thread is a whole lot of crazy.
I agree with this. I'm all for praising people (boys, girls) for good work. And yes lots of boys out busting their butts to shovel. But let's be honest in 99 percent of the cases they are doing it for money only. Every teen boy I know was out hustling for the money. Nothing wrong with this. Yes they do a better job than girls and can move more snow. But this wasn't the work of saints, this wasn't real community work in most cases, it was getting paid for a chore! Be honest about what's going on here. Boys are great (I have two of them!) but it's just silly to pat them on the back for working. It's patronizing really!
People constantly praise girls and everything is about them now. The point was to say something nice. My son helped dig out us and three neighbors all for free.
This.
BS. Just stop perpetuating division and focus on lifting up all teens.
Why would anyone in 2026 try to lift up boys when they are all incels addicted through their phones to the mano-sphere?
