My very liberal DC loved Miami- yes it’s in the south and yes, there are definitely conservative students but it’s actually pretty balanced, the football team made it to the championship this year. There’s a lot of Greek life and Miami is a terrific city. Its worth checking out.
If the liberal “no south” kids actually visited southern schools they would find that many of these schools are balanced. They have created some vision in their head that everyone in the South are uneducated, MAGA idiots.
Asking with sincerity- if liberal my DD attends a southern school will the guys be interested? Do they really intend to marry a progressive and move to the DMV? Not that college is about meeting your spouse, but it happens and it can be great when it happens. I just wonder if the dating pool of guys interested in a real relationship with a liberal non-southern girl is too small.
Answering a question with a question: Perhaps, she would be open to Atlanta, Houston, Charlotte, Savannah, Raleigh, Miami, among others? Are they so different from the DMV that she wouldn’t consider them?
Seriously. Nashville, Atlanta, Houston, Athens, Miami, New Orleans, Raleigh, Austin, Richmond, Dallas, and even Birmingham are all far more woke and liberal than the vast majority of communities in the Northeast or Midwest, especially the small towns where most Liberal Arts colleges are located. And of course liberal students from all over meet other liberal students at southern universities and eventually marry. I have two boys studying at universities in the south. They are both in serious relationships, one with a women from California and the other with a woman from Colorado. These are normal places with normal students doing normal things. Many study econ or engineering, go to football games, get into relationships, and follow jobs to NYC or SF or wherever and get on with life, like normal people do. People talk about the south like it’s North Korea or something. It's just another corner of America with its good and bad.
+1
